Designer, HGTV Star Ali Azhar Shows Ceramic Tile Trends in Application

Most magazines, Builder included, often write about the latest style trends in ceramic tiles and stone, but we seldom try to show you how these different pieces can be used in application—until now.

Last month at Coverings 2011, the annual tile show, we caught up with Ali Azhar, designer, carpenter, president of Alive Design in Chicago, and a host of HGTV’s Design on a Dime, at his Installation Design Showcase—a yearly event in which designers showcase the synergy between good design and tile installation.

Each designer bathroom space was conceived at Coverings and installed on the show floor. And each highlights a different design aesthetic.

In this video clip, Azhar talks about how varying types of tiles—such as faux wood, glass, and textured ceramic—can be assembled in one room setting. What matters more than anything, the designer says, is that the concept is seamless and flows together.
