Linear Corp., based in Carlsbad, Calif., the electronics subsidiary of building materials manufacturer Nortek, recently purchased SpeakerCraft for $58 million. Along with SpeakerCraft, Linear Corp. will now consist of Elan Home Systems, makers of home networking systems; Xantech, which markets remote-control audio/video systems; and Multiplex Technology, which sells integrated home automation and structured wiring systems under the ChannelPlus brand.
