Barratt American is going urban. Early in 2004, the Carlsbad, Calif.-based builder expects to begin work on the Metrome, a 184-unit, mid-rise condo building in a rapidly developing area of downtown San Diego. It represents one of the first ventures for Barratt American’s urban development division, which has projects planned for three other California cities.
