The judges gave special recognition for Pardee Homes’ commitment to build all 124 units in its LivingSmart Homes at Fair Oaks Ranch development to the National Green Building Standard’s Gold level, showcasing the potential for sustainable practices in production housing. Each house includes a 1.35-kW SunPower PV array; a reflective roof; fluorescent lighting; low-E windows; Energy Star–rated appliances; WaterSense-certified bath fixtures; and 100%-recycled-content carpet.
