Asbestos Villain?

By Matthew Power. Edward Carroll, a 71-year-old Vermont man, has been charged in New Haven, Conn., with environmental crimes involving asbestos. Authorities say that while renovating an old mill, which he knew contained asbestos, he told subcontractors and workers to demolish the building, without taking any special handling precautions to deal with the asbestos. If he is convicted of the six counts against him, which include failure to properly dispose of the asbestos, he faces five years in prison on each count and up to a $250,000 fine.
